1. Scope and contact
This notice explains information handling for the Joebed Arts website at joebedarts.com and its official hosted version, including the portfolio, project pages, and Pocket Arcade jukebox. The site is operated under the Joebed Arts brand, based in Florida, United States.
Privacy questions and requests: JoebedArts@gmail.com.
The Maxie Mayhem Beta Privacy Policy separately covers the beta and its stated related activities. Other games, apps, and external platforms may have their own privacy notices. This website notice does not describe data practices inside those separate products.
2. Information involved in a visit
Website delivery and security
Our hosting and network providers process connection and request information needed to deliver and protect the site. This can include your IP address, browser or device information, requested page, request time, referring page when supplied, and security or error information. Provider logs and security tools may retain some of this information under their own arrangements.
Website analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate visits, pages viewed, referral sources, approximate country, browser, and device type. We also count clicks that open Q-Ball Arcade or Maxie Mayhem, jukebox opens and closes, soundtrack choices, YouTube-link clicks, and interactions with the three published Maxie songs. Song events include playback starts, pauses and resumes, replays, skips, approximate unmuted playback seconds, listening progress, endings and Favorite button actions. Listening progress excludes large seeks and repeated portions; a completion requires the player to end after at least 90% of the song has been played unmuted. These are aggregate engagement signals, not proof that a person heard or enjoyed a song. Verification events are labeled QA and can be separated from visitor events. A game-link click does not mean a game was played; the game has its own separate analytics and privacy notice.
Analytics does not use analytics cookies. Vercel derives a temporary visitor identifier from request information and discards it after 24 hours. We do not send names, email addresses, account or wallet identifiers, message content, or URL query strings and fragments in page or event URLs. We do not use the analytics identity, session-replay, or advertising features.
Email you choose to send
When you email us, we receive your email address, the name supplied by your email service, your message, and any attachments. Please do not send passwords, payment credentials, wallet recovery phrases, or other people’s personal information.
Game updates you choose to receive
When you submit the game signup form, we store your email address, your selected email topics, the time and wording of your consent, the page where you signed up, and an unsubscribe token. The Maxie Mayhem form asks for its development updates and launch news, with a separate optional choice for Joebed Arts news. The Q-Ball form asks for Q-Ball Arcade updates and launch news, with separate unchecked choices for Maxie Mayhem and Joebed Arts. Choosing one game does not automatically enroll you in another. The form asks you to confirm that you are 13 or older. We use this information to maintain the signup list and send the emails you requested. When email delivery is enabled, Maxie Mayhem signup acknowledgements and Q-Ball email-confirmation requests may be sent through Resend. Q-Ball requests stay pending until you confirm the selected topics. We store the request choices, consent wording and time, confirmation token, expiry, and confirmation or cancellation state. Confirmation links expire after seven days; merely opening a link does not activate a signup. We privately record the message content, a delivery event identifier, attempt times, and provider acceptance or failure so retries can be handled without duplicate messages. The Surf’s Up! list stores the email address, explicit 13-or-older consent wording and time, signup page, status, and an unsubscribe token in its own record. It is for Surf’s Up! development updates only. A successful signup is saved without a confirmation email; a new signup after an unsubscribe records fresh consent. Signing up is not a game account, a playtest invitation, or a promise of a release date.
Maxie Mayhem and Q-Ball records are stored privately in the site’s Cloudflare database. When the game-email connection is enabled, those selected topics may also be sent to Resend to maintain their mailing groups. We keep a private record of synchronization and opt-out status. Resend unsubscribe changes are reconciled with the website list; a provider opt-out is not reversed by stale signup data. Confirmed contacts migrated from an earlier signup provider retain their original source evidence, with unavailable historical dates left unknown. Importing a contact does not send a welcome email. The separate Surf’s Up! signup is stored in its own Cloudflare database table, is not sent to Resend or joined to another topic, and does not send an immediate email. Email addresses and signup choices are not sent to website analytics or displayed publicly. Short-lived, hourly hashes of connection addresses help limit repeated submissions; the forms do not store raw connection addresses in the signup database, and expired abuse-limit records are cleaned up after 48 hours when a form is used.
Current website features
The current public website does not offer Joebed Arts account signup, community profiles, payment checkout, wallet connections, or prize entries. Its own page code uses limited Vercel Web Analytics, described below, and does not add advertising pixels. Visiting the site does not subscribe you to marketing messages.
3. YouTube, cookies, and browser storage
The jukebox uses a standard YouTube embedded player. The site loads that player when you open the jukebox with the Maxie Mayhem soundtrack selected. Loading it connects your browser to YouTube even if you have not pressed Play. YouTube may receive your IP address, browser details, referring site, and interactions, and may use cookies or similar technologies under its policies. If you are signed into Google, its account settings may affect how that activity is handled.
You can avoid loading the embedded player by not opening the jukebox. Leaving the player removes the embed from this page, but does not erase information already received by YouTube or clear its cookies. A “Listen on YouTube” link opens YouTube directly and is also subject to Google’s practices.
Our own page code does not write cookies. When you use the jukebox Favorite button, the site saves only your chosen public song IDs in this browser so the button keeps your preference. No account or cross-device identity is created. Favorites remain usable with analytics disabled; in that case no favorite action is sent to analytics. It also stores an analytics exclusion preference in localStorage when you choose to disable or re-enable analytics. This preference stays in your browser and is not sent to Vercel. The signup popup also stores whether you dismissed it or successfully joined the list. It waits 14 days after dismissal before showing automatically again and stays closed after a successful signup in that browser. These preferences do not contain your email address; clearing browser storage resets them without removing you from the email list. Hosting or security providers and embedded services may use their own cookies or similar technologies. This is not a claim that the site is entirely cookie-free. You can manage cookies and site data in your browser; blocking them may affect embedded media or security checks.
Read the Google Privacy Policy and YouTube Terms of Service for those services. Links to social networks and project platforms take you to independently operated services with their own policies.
Vercel Speed Insights also measures page loading, responsiveness, and visual stability. It follows the same browser analytics opt-out, Do Not Track, and Global Privacy Control choices. Performance page URLs omit query strings and fragments; this integration does not add account identifiers or session replay.
4. Why information is used
We use information we receive to answer inquiries, handle permission or collaboration requests, investigate reported problems, protect the site, maintain the email signup list, send requested game and studio updates, understand aggregate visits and engagement with game links and the jukebox, and meet applicable legal obligations. Our providers process technical information to deliver their hosting, email, security, and media services.
We do not sell personal information received through website inquiries or provide it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We use the limited analytics described above and have not added advertising, cross-site identity tracking, or session replay. Embedded YouTube content remains subject to Google’s separate practices described above.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, the relevant basis depends on the activity: taking steps you request before an agreement, meeting legal obligations, our legitimate interests in responding to inquiries and securing the site where permitted, or consent where required. Merely visiting the site is not treated as consent to all processing.
5. Providers and disclosures
OpenAI Sites and its underlying Cloudflare infrastructure deliver the website and store the email signup list. Vercel provides the website analytics described above. Google provides Gmail for our contact email and YouTube for embedded music. When the email sender is enabled, Resend processes the recipient address, selected email topics and mailing-group membership, requested message, sender and reply information, and technical delivery records to send signup acknowledgements, email-confirmation requests, and approved updates. Surf’s Up! subscriber records remain in a separate website list and are not synced to Resend contacts or topics. A requested Surf Club mailbox-confirmation email uses the existing Resend sender, with a private token, request and confirmation times, and delivery record; opening its link alone changes nothing. Confirming an ownership-only request does not subscribe you. We do not add open-tracking pixels or recipient-specific tracking parameters to the game links in our email templates. We use these services for their respective functions; opening an embed or contacting us makes the relevant provider part of that interaction.
You can review the OpenAI Privacy Policy, Cloudflare Privacy Policy, Vercel analytics privacy information, and Google Privacy Policy, and the Resend Privacy Policy. Providers may process information in the United States or other countries. Their independent processing and retention are governed by their applicable policies and arrangements.
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to respond to valid legal process, comply with law, address fraud or security issues, or protect people’s rights and safety. We do not make your inquiry or attachments public as part of routine support.
6. Retention and security
We retain correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to handle the inquiry, maintain relevant business records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. The period varies with the message and any resulting relationship. You can request deletion by email; we may retain information when a lawful reason requires it. Hosting logs and data held independently by external services follow those providers’ retention practices.
We keep email signup records while you are subscribed. An unsubscribe marks your record inactive so it can be excluded from future announcements; a fresh signup can reactivate it. You may request deletion at JoebedArts@gmail.com. The general game-email unsubscribe link stops all topics on the Maxie Mayhem and Q-Ball list and cancels pending Q-Ball requests. The cancellation link in a Q-Ball confirmation email cancels that request or stops Q-Ball emails activated by it, while leaving other game choices unchanged. The Surf’s Up! browser game and website page use the same Surf-only signup list. After confirming email ownership through an explicit Surf Club confirmation link, signed-in game players can view or change the preference for their confirmed sign-in email in Profile → Island Post; game account exports include that choice and deleting Surf Club data removes its signup record for the confirmed sign-in email. These operations use a private server connection and do not expose email addresses on the public leaderboard. Surf’s Up! has a separate unsubscribe link and record; stopping Surf’s Up! updates does not change any other email choice. Opening an unsubscribe link alone does not change a record; the page asks you to submit the unsubscribe action. These actions do not delete technical or consent records needed to honor your request.
The site uses HTTPS and browser security headers. These measures reduce some risks but do not guarantee complete security. Please avoid sending sensitive information by ordinary email.
7. Your choices and requests
We honor Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control for website analytics. You can also disable analytics for this browser or enable it again. Disabling analytics does not prevent browsing, opening game links, or using the jukebox.
You can browse without joining the email list. Use the unsubscribe link in a game update email, or email JoebedArts@gmail.com to ask us to remove you. The Game updates button lets you reopen the signup form after dismissing it.
You may browse without emailing us or loading the jukebox. You can use browser settings to manage cookies, clear stored site data, and limit third-party tracking. For Google account and YouTube activity, use the controls provided by Google.
You may ask about personal information we hold about you, request corrections, or request deletion by contacting JoebedArts@gmail.com. Depending on your location and applicable law, you may also have rights to access, portability, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, appeal, or a complaint to a privacy regulator. We will handle requests according to the law that applies and will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising those rights.
We may need enough information to verify that a request is yours, and some requests may be limited by legal obligations or other people’s rights. Requests about information independently controlled by Google or another provider should also be directed to that provider.
8. Children’s information
The game email signup is for people aged 13 or older and requires that confirmation. The website has no account registration or signup forms intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can review and address it, including deletion where appropriate.
Parents and guardians should supervise children’s use of external services. Separate games and platforms may set additional age requirements. Before adding child-directed interactive features or collecting children’s information, we will review the applicable requirements and update the relevant notices and controls.
9. Changes and future features
We will update this notice and its effective date when our website practices change. Material changes will receive additional notice or consent where required. Planned profiles, paid arcade plays, cryptocurrency features, collectibles, and prize events are not enabled by this notice; their data practices must be explained before those features begin collecting information.
If the legal operator changes, we will update its identity and contact information and provide any required notice.
